COMMUNITY IMPACT: food drive to benefit neighbor to neighbor

On Sunday, October 9, 2016, the Junior League of Greenwich held a highly successful food drive at the Acme Store locations in Greenwich and Riverside to benefit Neighbor-to-Neighbor. The food drive stationed a team of spirited Junior League members outside of each location with a bright red sandwich board listing the food items most requested by Neighbor- to-Neighbor. The generous and enthusiastic response of the people of Greenwich was heartwarming on the raw and rainy Sunday morning.

Shoppers helped fill more than one grocery cart per hour with cans of tuna, jars of peanut butter, boxes of pasta, and many other staples needed by our local food pantry.  Large numbers of people bought multiple bags full of food and placed them into the shopping carts. The Junior League also raised more than $250 in cash at store locations.
