Den for Grieving Kids – founded by the JLG in 1993

In the Greenwich Time on Friday, October 27 was a beautiful article written about the Den for Grieving Kids.

The Junior League of Greenwich founded the Den for Grieving Kids in 1993. At this time there was no bereavement group for families in the area, and the program filled a large need in the community’s public services. The Den is modeled after the Dougy Center in Portland, Maine, and is now operated by Family Centers.   Every two weeks, approximately 140 children and adults convene in Greenwich for activities and discussions. Attendance is not mandatory, and the program is set up such that families can flow in and out of the group as they desire.

The Den for Grieving Kids is one example of a JLG program that continues to give to the community. This program helps define our organization and makes us proud to be a part of the JLG. What we do matters.
