Cotillion

Debutantes of the Greenwich Cotillion 2010

Cotillion is a season of lovely mother and daughter events, culminating in the Debutante Ball, a once in a lifetime family evening at which the father of the debutante proudly presents her.  The Greenwich Cotillion is a long-standing tradition of the JLG and an event that is looked forward to with much excitement every June.  Over the years, it has raised substantial funds to support the mission and programs of the Junior League of Greenwich.

Historically, a cotillion’s purpose was to introduce young women to society through a series of social events.  Today’s Cotillion maintains many of the social aspects of old, but includes an important “introduction to volunteering,” emphasizing a young woman’s responsibilities to society.  This volunteer philosophy is the cornerstone of the mission of the League.

Young women, who are a senior in high school and reside in Greenwich or attend a Greenwich school, are invited to consider participating.

The 2011 Greenwich Cotillion

will be held on

June 18th at The Tomes-Higgins House.
